Serving Those Who Served: Wyatt Johnson Subaru Gives Back - S H.

At Wyatt Johnson Subaru, community isn't just a word, it's a commitment. Last week, our team had the honor of visiting the Tennessee State Veteran's Home to serve lunch and spend time with the brave men and women who once served us all. When we discovered that our local veteran’s home didn't receive many visitors, we sprang into action. Our Love Promise Coordinator made a trip to visit Ms. Lisa Hunt, the activity coordinator at the veteran's home, and planned a day for our team to spend at the facility. Upon our arrival we were greeted warmly by the outstanding staff. They made us feel right at home while they helped us get set up to serve the residents lunch. It was truly such a special experience getting to serve the heroes who once served us. The smiles on their faces along with the gratitude they all expressed was priceless. Once we finished serving lunch, we had the pleasure of visiting all 9 wings of the facility that housed our local hero's. We spent hours meeting many incredible veterans and exchanged many stories, smiles, laughs and hugs. This is what the Subaru Love Promise is truly about, sharing kindness and creating lasting memories within our community.

Boots on the Ground, Hearts in the Cause - Sonja H.

Subaru-more than a car company. Here at Wyatt Johnson Subaru our goal is to exemplify why we are more than a car company. While we love taking care of our valued customers' vehicle needs (and wants) daily, we also love the opportunities that we are given to impact and serve our community in a positive way while building lasting relationships with those we encounter. Two of our brave and resilient employees participated in the Mountain Man Memorial March that took place in Gatlinburg, TN to honor our Fallen service members and directly support Gold Star families. Mike Moore, a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard who has served in Operation Enduring Freedom in the Horn of Africa alongside Madison Young, a military spouse herself, rucked 13 miles while carrying 35 pounds on their backs not including the names of the Fallen they shouldered. The names on the back of their shirts are of Fallen service members, several of whom served at Ft. Campbell. One of them being Seargent Andy Southard, a Black Hawk Crew Chief, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash during a training exercise over the Mediterranean Sea. His wife, Ashley Southard, has shared her story so bravely, vulnerably and beautifully across her social media platforms to honor her husband’s legacy. Ms. Ashley Southard is such an incredibly resilient human being and her sharing her story is a beautiful example that while the weight she carries is something we don’t know, we can come together and help her carry it. We reached out to her and asked if we could add Seargent Southard’s name to our list of Fallen soldiers to which she happily agreed. Participating in this Memorial March while having the opportunity to help honor a local Gold Star family’s Fallen service member just made it that more special to us. Being a Subaru dealer so close to the Ft. Campbell community, it is our duty to always step in and show our support every chance we get. All Gold Star families deserve to have their loved ones honored and remembered every single day. May we continue to keep the legacy alive of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The Mountain Man Memorial March is partnered with Legacies Alive (A Non-profit organization) that works directly with Gold Star Families to help them navigate the unimaginable. We are so proud of Mike Moore and Madison Young for their dedication and passion to honor our Fallen while helping local Gold Star families. Madison Young explains what this event means to her, "This march is more than just an event; it’s a heartfelt tribute to the families who bear the daily weight of losing their loved ones in service to our nation,” said Madison Young. “While many pause to remember our fallen heroes on Memorial Day, these families live with their absence every single day. No single event can ever fully honor the magnitude of their sacrifice, but through this march, we aim to show them that their loved ones’ bravery is etched in our hearts forever. Their sacrifices are not in vain; they are remembered, honored, and will never be forgotten. Mike Moore says "Well if I had to put it into words it's an opportunity to give those who stomach the pain of losing a loved one the chance to speak. A lot of people will patch up a scraped knee or a busted arm, but they don't tend to the kind of pain that sits quietly in your chest day after day. The best way I have heard it explained is 'it's easy to deal with a flesh wound, but hard to spit out a mouth full of poison' if that makes any sense. I know it'll never be enough to heal the damage done. However, when I see the reverence given when remembering their Fallen Hero, I know it's a step in the right direction." Mike Moore and Madison Young earned First Place in their category at the Mountain Man Memorial March. We are so incredibly proud of them for pouring their hearts into such a meaningful cause.

Wyatt Johnson Subaru Teams Up to Support Local Community - Nate R.

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Clarksville, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Wyatt Johnson Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Wyatt Johnson Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/17/2025, Wyatt Johnson Subaru donated 204 shoes/socks to The Clarksville Salvation Army Shelter. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

Igniting Potential in our Youth - Sandra B.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters we are eternally grateful to Wyatt Johnson Subaru for their support of our program. Their donation has helped us increase the number of youth we serve in our community every year. Since becoming a Love Promise partner, we have doubled the number of children mentored in Clarksville. Your donation supports our monthly match activities. It helps provide a safe and free place for our Bigs and Littles to meet and engage in fun activities, while also providing a space for one-on-one mentoring. Recent match and mentoring activities include a car show, pool party, and magic show, to name a few. This donation allows us to continue our program and provided a platform for meaningful connections.

Planting roots in the Community - Sonja H.

Wyatt Johnson Subaru in Clarksville, Tennessee, recently participated in Subaru's "Loves the Earth" initiative by distributing free trees to the local community. This event was part of Subaru's broader commitment to environmental sustainability, aiming to plant 100,000 trees nationwide in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. Due to rapid growth in Clarksville, Tennessee, our tree canopy has declined significantly over the past 7 years, from 38% to 17%. Trees have a bigger impact on our community than we think. Just to name a few examples: trees help absorb the sound of traffic by 40%, reduce energy costs by shading large buildings and protecting them from winter winds. They are guardians against flooding and help clean the air that we breathe. Thanks to Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation, Wyatt Johnson Subaru was able to plant roots within their community. They were able to donate 100 trees to their loyal customers while making a positive impact on our environment. Everyone left smiling from ear to ear with their new tree that they will get to enjoy for years to come all thanks to Wyatt Johnson Subaru!

Operation Warm at Wyatt Johnson Subaru - Sonja H.

Wyatt Johnson Subaru’s “Operation Warm” was a beautiful example of how a local business can give back to its community through Subaru’s Love Promise initiative. In partnership with the non-profit organization Operation Warm and the Salvation Army, Wyatt Johnson Subaru worked to provide brand new shoes and socks to children in need. The goal was simple: ensure that kids have the warmth they need to get through the cold winter months, no matter their family's financial situation. They worked directly with local news outlet Clarksville Now, schools and community organizations to identify children who could benefit from the gift of a new, high quality pair of shoes. These shoes were not just any shoes they were selected for warmth, durability, and style, giving children a sense of pride and comfort when heading out into the cold. During this initiative, they were also able to provide additional love to the children who came. Sonja Harrell, executive assistant and Subaru Love Promise Coordinator, reached out to the community to see if anyone would be willing to provide something special for the kids. She wanted them to have something fun to get when they arrived. Thanks to The Dugout Clarksville and Dach of Sweet the kids received free goodie bags and a fresh homemade cookie when they came to pick out their shoes. The Subaru Love Promise is about more than just selling cars; it’s about making a difference in the lives of others. Through events like Operation Warm, Wyatt Johnson Subaru is able to take part in spreading love and generosity, showing that the Subaru community is not just about driving, it’s about caring. This program helps children stay warm, but it also warms hearts, building a sense of unity and compassion within the community.

Wyatt Johnson Subaru's Free Santa Event - Sonja H.

Wyatt Johnson Subaru brought holiday cheer to the local community by hosting a special Free Santa Event, an initiative aimed at spreading joy and creating lasting memories for families. The event, held at their dealership, was a heartwarming celebration designed to connect with their neighbors and give back to the community they serve. As families arrived, they were greeted by a festive atmosphere, complete with twinkling lights, holiday music, and the friendly staff at Wyatt Johnson Subaru. The highlight of the day was, of course, Santa Claus himself, who made a grand entrance to the delight of children and adults alike. Families had the chance to take free photos with Santa, creating magical memories to cherish for years to come. In addition to the photo opportunities, Wyatt Johnson Subaru also provided free treats, ensuring everyone felt welcomed and appreciated. Volunteers from the dealership were on hand to assist with the event, offering a warm, friendly environment for all attendees. Beyond the fun and festivities, the event was part of Subaru’s ongoing "Share the Love" campaign, which encourages dealerships to give back to their local communities. Wyatt Johnson Subaru chose to host this event to ensure the spirit of giving extended beyond just the holiday season. As the day came to a close, parents and children alike left with not only the joy of the season, but also a sense of gratitude for the company’s commitment to making a positive impact. The event was a reminder of the power of community and the joy that comes from sharing love and kindness.

Supporting Our Schools:Wyatt Johnson Subaru’s Partnership with Barkers Mill Elementary - Zoe F.

With the start of the school year in Tennessee, Wyatt Johnson Subaru is committed to supporting our local community. In the City of Clarksville, selecting a partner for Subaru Loves Learning presented a challenge, but Barkers Mill Elementary School stood out with their warm reception and gratitude for the gifts we provided to their kindergarten teachers. General Manager Lindsay Perales, accompanied by her assistant Zoe Farren and Sales Consultants Mike Moore and Kelly Babcock, had the pleasure of personally delivering Subaru Loves Learning Supplies Kits to seven kindergarten teachers. Additionally, three boxes of supplies were donated to the school for distribution. These kits included a wide range of materials, from Expo markers and erasers to various coloring supplies, aimed at benefiting both students and teachers. With so many deserving schools in the area, Wyatt Johnson Subaru is excited to continue these partnerships in the coming years. This initiative is a testament to Subaru’s dedication to community support and the meaningful impact it can have. We are thrilled to be part of this effort, offering relief and appreciation to the dedicated teachers who strive to create an exceptional learning environment. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Brown’s class for their touching display of gratitude, which truly warmed our hearts. It's not every day that you get the chance to brighten someone's day, let alone uplift an entire community!

Java and Generosity: How Mike Moore Showed Thanks to Teachers with a Coffee Truck - Zoe F.

Wyatt Johnson Subaru is fortunate to have a sales consultant like Michael “Big Mike” Moore. After being raised locally in the area and remaining as an active member of the United States National Guard. Mike Moore is a veteran who served in the Horn of Africa during Operation Enduring Freedom from 2021 to 2022. Returning to civilian life, Mike was welcomed into Wyatt Johnson's sales team, and we are thrilled to have such a dedicated community leader on board. Mike approaches his work with creativity and a deep commitment to giving back to the community. His most recent community initiative is a testament to this dedication. Mike’s younger brother recently started at New Providence Middle School. During the school's open house, Mike attended with his mother and brother to connect with the teachers and faculty, more specifically his brother’s special need teachers. Inspired by this experience, he organized a special gesture for the school. On Monday, August 19, 2024, Grindhead Coffee of Clarksville, a veteran and family-owned business, set up at New Providence Middle School, providing free coffee to all teachers, faculty, and staff for four hours, a generous gift from Mike himself. The school staff were deeply appreciative and enjoyed the well-deserved treat as they settled into the new school year. But Big Mike’s generosity didn’t stop there. He handed out his contact card to the teachers and faculty, offering a $500 discount on the purchase of a new or used vehicle at Wyatt Johnson Subaru. Additionally, he collaborated with Principal Melanie Steinlage to establish a system where faculty can create “need lists” for items Mike will help provide throughout the school year. Having community leaders like Mike Moore at Wyatt Johnson Subaru is truly a blessing. He embodies the Subaru Love Promise in every aspect of his work, seamlessly balancing his professional responsibilities with his commitment to community outreach. The Clarksville community is full of reasons to be thankful, and it’s people like Michael Moore who make it such a special place to live and thrive.

Warm Hearts, Warm Blankets: Wyatt Johnson Subaru's Commitment to the Patients of Tennova - Zoe F.

On Thursday, July 11th, Wyatt Johnson Subaru was able to show their gratitude and support for our local hospital, Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville. Tennova is an asset to the Clarksville community, as they strive to change lives in every way shape or form. Being a part of Subaru means more than just selling a car or providing a service. At Wyatt Johnson Subaru, we are working to fully embrace the culture of Subaru and the Love Promise. Subaru loves to care, but Wyatt Johnson wants to provide that care and relief in any way that our community may need. When we arrived at the hospital to give several gifts from blankets to patient care kits, we were met by Sandy Wooten, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Tennova. Her passion and care for changing people’s lives is truly admirable and we are lucky to have someone like her in our community. Sandy shared “As the public relations liaison for Tennova, my favorite activity is the opportunity to interact with our community partners. For five years now, our friends at Wyatt-Johnson Subaru have shown their care for our patients and their commitment to Tennova through the Subaru Love Promise. Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville is blessed to have such an awesome community partner in Wyatt-Johnson.” Members of Tennova’s Nursing Leadership graciously accepted the gifts on behalf of their patients. While it would have been inspiring to do give these gifts ourselves, it means more to us allowing those who get to see these patients and the journeys that they have been on to do so. Along with this, we provided our “letters of hope” that we have been collecting over the past couple of months from customers who have come through the building. Tennova’s summer VolunTeen program started just two days after our delivery of the blankets, care kits, and letters of hope. These young ambassadors, as their first tasks on the nursing floors, helped deliver blankets to patients dealing with a cancer diagnosis, having an especially hard day, or just feeling lonely and needing a little extra love. Not only were the patients’ spirits lifted by the warm blanket, but both the patients’ and the teen volunteers’ hearts were full following the exchange. Just a small gesture like a blanket or a note of encouragement can provide great hope!

Bark in the Park: Wyatt Johnson Subaru Dog Park Opens Under Sunny Skies - Zoe F.

Subaru loves pets, but at Wyatt Johnson Subaru we want to show you just how welcoming and loved you and your furry friends are! It is official; the Wyatt Johnson Subaru Dog Park is officially up and running! We recently were able to open our community dog park here in Clarksville, TN, and we are even happier to share our campus with all the sweet four-legged friends out there. Following the Tennessee mid-summer heat wave, we noticed a handful of pups cooling off and getting their energy out! One lovely customer was happy to share with us, “We had so much fun chasing tennis balls and tails, with such a beautiful view of the pond! My Remington boy, his fur pal, Tiny, and I will definitely be back to spend another ‘paw-esome’ day at Subaru’s dog park!” as we shared a laugh and some fun on such a clear, beautiful day. Wyatt Johnson Subaru wants everyone in the Clarksville community to utilize the dog park because at Subaru, we welcome everyone, from your great grandparents to your siblings, to your sweet furry friends and we want everybody to have something here that makes them smile. From a beautiful new facility to a gracious variety of treats and top-notch customer service, we want to make sure that we can cater to every need you may have. Launching the dog park at Wyatt Johnson Subaru opens us to even more opportunities, as we are currently partnered with Montgomery County Animal Care and look forward to hosting events for them on our campus, or even working with them on theirs. With the addition of our dog park, it gives us a leg up with our partners for being able to have a safe space for dogs, cats, bunnies, and so many more to have somewhere to run, jump, hop, or shake. When looking towards the future, here at Wyatt Johnson Subaru we are lucky to share our facilities with the community.

Compassion in Action: Volunteering for Tornado-Damaged Family Homes - Zoe F.

Following a season of destruction, the Clarksville community has slowly been rebuilding after a long and hard tornado season torn through the city. Since December 2023, the city of Clarksville has banded together to provide relief and assistance for families. Hands On, a Nashville based volunteer organization, stepped up in a time of need, pulling volunteers from everywhere in the greater Nashville region to Clarksville, and Wyatt Johnson was ready to answer the call for help. Roughly a dozen Wyatt Johnson employees cleared their schedules and jumped into action. We were happy to partner with Hands On, who have been an established volunteer organization for over thirty years, as our volunteers were able to help clear tornado debris from a family home. Following months of disaster, everyone in the community had a reason to help, but for Wyatt Johnson, we knew what we had to do! Wyatt Johnson has a long-rooted history in the Clarksville community dating back to 1946, building a reputation and a community of its own. People in Middle Tennessee know and love Wyatt Johnson, as they have generational relations throughout the community, helping in every way possible. Hands On represents very similar morals and values, maintaining a family dynamic while doing everything they can to bring relief to other families. Wyatt Johnson’s volunteers were assigned to a woman’s home, who was drastically affected by the December 9th, 2023, tornadoes that swept through the city. She had reached Hands On in an effort to help in a time of need, When signing up to aid in helping, Hands On was able to provide our volunteers with all the tools they would need to protect themselves in the process and make a difference in the process. Hands On follows the same values that Subaru Love Promise does as they maintain community outreach, in every way they can provide. There is no shortage of help that Hands On can be a part of and luckily, they have roped us into the loop to continue helping and growing together.

LaQu - lindsay p.

In a small town ravaged by a powerful tornado, there lived a resilient and determined individual named LaQualin Nickelson. LaQualin, like many others, had lost his home and most of his belongings in the devastating storm. The road to recovery seemed long and arduous, but little did he know that a beacon of hope was about to shine upon his life. In this town, there was an automotive dealership called Wyatt Johnson and its compassionate employees believed in the power of lending a helping hand to those in need, embodying the true spirit of the Subaru Love Promise. When the news of LaQualin's loss reached the ears of the kind-hearted individuals at Wyatt Johnson, they knew they had to act. Recognizing the challenges he faced in rebuilding his life, they rallied together, determined to make a difference. With great empathy and generosity, Wyatt Johnson and its employees collected a sum of $5000, a gesture of support to help LaQualin get back on his feet. The Subaru Love Promise, deeply ingrained in the ethos of Wyatt Johnson, is a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals facing adversity. It is a testament to the belief that no one should face hardships alone. This commitment was brought to life through their act of kindness towards LaQualin, demonstrating the genuine care and compassion that Subaru and Wyatt Johnson hold for their community. With the financial support provided by Wyatt Johnson, LaQualin embarked on the journey of rebuilding his life. Piece by piece, he began to rebuild his home, his sanctuary, from the ground up. The story of LaQualin's resilience and the kindness of Wyatt Johnson spread throughout the community, inspiring others to come together and offer their support. Volunteers offered their time and skills, neighbors extended a helping hand, and the town united as a force to be reckoned with. Through their combined efforts LaQualin's new home began to take shape. A symbol of hope and determination, it stood as a testament to the power of community and the unwavering support of the community. As LaQualin settled into his new home, he couldn't help but feel gratitude. This heartwarming tale of resilience, compassion, and community is just one of the many stories that exemplify the Subaru Love Promise. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there is always hope, and together, we can create a brighter future.
